The South Carolina Federation of Museum offers scholarships to attend its annual conference. The conference presents opportunities for increased networking and professional development in South Carolina.
Eligibility One-time scholarships are available to senior-level undergraduates and graduate students preparing for career in museums. New and seasoned museum professionals are also encouraged to apply. Special consideration will be given (but is not limited) to those attending the conference for the first time, or representative from the museum’s technical and support fields.
Scholarship winners receive a one-year membership in SCFM and a $250 stipend, in addition to a waiver of the full conference registration. Recipients will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony and/or Business Meeting held during the conference.
Scholarship applications must include the following materials:
- A cover letter detailing the applicant’s career or institutional goals and description how the conference will help the applicant or the applicant’s museum achieve those goals.
- Applicant’s resume and contact information.
- Two letters of recommendation.
A three-member scholarship committee will review all applications.

About Christopher T. Loeblein
The SCFM Scholarship program is named for Christopher T. Loeblein, curator of History for the Charleston Museum from 1977 until his passing in 2001. These awards honor Mr. Loeblein’ s support of the development of emerging museum professionals, his service to SCFM, and his enduring spirit of collegiality and friendship.
